This site is dedicated to publishing my thoughts and personal opinions on issues that I find interesting. There is no intent on hurting any feelings in any of the articles as what I write about reflects on how I see the issue. As such, comments are welcome.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.comBlogger19125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-16144044801182883202010-06-13T22:34:00.000-07:002010-06-14T02:16:51.607-07:00Industrial Training May Summary.Hello there. I know I haven't written here for more than a month now. Like I said before, blogging isn't one of my favourite things. So instead of making a daily summary of what I've been up to, I've decided that for the month of May, I'll do an entire months wrap up with pics only.

Things here are going on well. Progress at the site is moving. Except for some minor delays here and there, work is going on as plan.

This is an aerial view of the site. This week was more towards documentation. Had to key-in and update the existing data for the Inspection Request Forms and also the Work Method Statement.

The Inspection Request Form (IRF) is used to request the respective consultants to carry out inspections on works done before any other works can proceed. Once the works have been inspected, the consultant will either give the go-ahead for further works to continue or order correctional works to be done if faults are found.

The Work Method Statement (WMS) are guidelines written up by the architect or consultants for the Engineers and Contractors on how a certain work should be carried out.

This week I had the opportunity to go along with the M&E engineer, consultant and contractor for an inspection on the pipes done for the underground sanitary services.

On Friday, the YB for this area along with the health director paid a visit to the site to see how things are going on along here.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-32216875965819696292010-04-23T02:44:00.000-07:002010-04-23T03:18:47.713-07:00Industrial Training Day 12-15DAY 12, 20 APR 2010 (Tuesday)
A quiet day at the office. After the weekend break, I'm back to this small town. Today was pretty quiet. Nothing much other than the ordinary going on here. Other than my walk around the site in the morning, I manage to have a conversation with the Safety Officer here regarding the role of a Safety & Health Officer. It was pretty interesting hearing what he had to say about being a safety officer. At the end of the conversation with him, I got a better view of what actually a safety officer does and how he goes about his day here. At the same time, I manage to get some info as to the procedure taken in order to obtain the qualifications to become a Safety and Health Officer.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-11495110770680652312010-04-16T00:34:00.000-07:002010-04-16T01:35:46.866-07:00Industrial Training Day 10Day 10 of my industrial training in Kuala Rompin. Things have been going on well here. Mostly self-exploring and then getting answers to my questions from the people around here. Basically the day began with me observing works at the site. Went to see how the works on the sanitary system was going on. It's pretty interesting to see things that we don't normally see especially those that are done underground.

Ever wonder where the dirty water goes after in goes into the floor trap and before it enters the manhole? Here at this project, the Intelligent Building System (IBS) is used. Basically what this means is that certain sections or parts of the building, in this case the columns, are pre-cast at a factory somewhere else, brought to the site and the installed. It's something like Lego where you actually put them in place. It's faster, easier and more cost effective than the conventional way of using the cast and mold method.
<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; So far the work progress here is still in the ground works. So from the electrical point of view, it's still too early to start any major wiring other than the earthing for some blocks and lightning protection. At the moment, more work is being done on the sanitary systems, laying of pipes underground. So for the time being, my exposure here will be more towards the groundworks and piping system. Hopefully my 3 months here will be enough to give me a chance see the electrical works being carried out.

Nevertheless, although so far what I've learnt here has very little to do with EE, but it any way, I have learnt quite a lot of what goes around in a construction area albeit the theory part only. You can say that I've been exposed to the civil & structural works here as well.

This is how things start out, with piles driven deep into the ground.
Next come the columns:
Then the ground beams:

Next the underground services i.e pipes, earthing etc:

And then the concrete floor:

That's basically how the foundation of a building is laid. Initially I thought that it was going to be an easy on since it was just typing and keying in data. So I happily accepted it since I had nothing to do at that time. Well, as it turned out, it wasn't so straight forward. Firstly, the worksheet was in Excel. Of all the Microsoft Office programs, this is the one that I had least knowledge. My task was just to modify the tables, add a few columns here and there, then key in the data. Thing is, I wasn't sure of my way around Excel. Heck, I "forgot" how to even merge cells and create borders.

Well, like any of the people my age when we don't know something and want to save face by not saying that we don't know how to do something that we should know, I requested the help of my good friend, Mr Google. Got some answers there. But it was pretty slow. So I then decided to ask the QA/QC engineer for a help. At least she was kind enough to help me out. So once I found my way around, things were pretty straight forward. But worst was to come. After taking my sweet time finish modifying one table and keying in the data, I realised that I had about 30 tables to modify and fill up. And I took about 20 minutes relaxing between work and FB to do the first table and it was nearly 4pm. Well, hook or by crook, I had to get it done since they needed it the next day.

And so I stayed back after working hours to complete the task.I had the air-cond here and it wasn't as if I had something to do back home. There were others as well who stayed back completing their work, so I wasn't alone. And another plus point, my boss bought us dinner, KFC. I wouldn't mind staying back if he does it everytime.

I managed to finish my task at about 10pm. It was indeed a long day. But it was better than nothing. After my first week, I had the weekend off. Made the 3 hour trip back to my beloved JB. Ahh, what a relieve is was to finally see tall & big buildings, mamak shops and the bright lights again. After 1 whole is this town where the tallest building is 3 stories, it was relieving to go back to a more "developed" place. No offense to those people who live in Kuala Rompin or come from such small towns, but I have no idea how they spend their weekends here. Maybe they have some place where they hang out which I haven't found out yet. Anyway, the Monday blues has arrived again.

Nothing much today. Since there were no inspections to be done, I didn't really have anything to do. So for the first time in my life, I had to ask for work to do. Well, at least the QA/QC engineer gave me some office work to do. So I did the paper work and typing of the list of inspections done for last month. Well, it sure beats doing nothing.

Well anyway, that's all for the day.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-11834107299071106672010-04-08T23:24:00.000-07:002010-04-09T00:58:15.467-07:00Industrial Training Day 4 & 5DAY 4 - 8 April 2010
It's was a very quiet day today. All the supervisors and the project team had meetings to attend to. Firstly, it was with the JKR people. Then later that evening they had a coordinators meeting. So basically I was left on my own. After going through some drawings and plans, I decided that since I had nothing else to do, I'd start on my report. Well, at the end of the day, I manage to finish 2 parts of the report. So at least I did get something done for the day.

DAY 5 - 9 April 2010
I accompanied the M & E engineer along with the mechanical consultant to the site for inspection and testing. But before I go on, although I'm majoring in electrical engineering, the work here also includes mechanical aspects. Therefore, throughout my internship here, not only will I be exposed to the electrical aspects of construction, but at the same time exposed also to the mechanical side of it as well. So for today, the inspection done was mainly on the sanitary plumbing system. As can be seen below, the M & E engineer goes along with the consultant to inspect the work done before further work is carried out.

After the inspection was done, they carried of the testings. The first test was the leakage test. Basically, it's to check if there are any leakage within the pipe itself. One end of the pipe is blocked. Water is then poured into the pipe until it's filled up. The water level is then marked. After about 2 hours, the water level is checked again to see if there is any decrease. If there is not, then the pipe has passed the test. If there is a decrease in water level, then further inspection needs to be carried out to determine where the leakage is.

The second test carried out was the flow test. To be honest, I'm not really into blogging. But have to do it anyway, at least for the next 3 months till the end of my internship. So anyway, here are my updates on my IT so far.

DAY 1. It was a pretty easy day for me. Reported for duty at the project site. Met up with En Rashidi, the Civil & Structural Engineer since the Project Engineer was on leave that day. I was then brought to the office where I was introduced to the QA/QC officer, Ms Leena and there after shown my work desk. Not to bad since I have my own work desk. Like I said, first day was pretty easy, not much work to do. I just found out about the project and the particulars of the company and the people-in-charge.

DAY 2. Second day was more interesting then the previous day. I met up with the M & E Engineering, En Khairul who will be my supervisor here. He gave me a more detailed briefing about the project and the electrical works that are being carried out. Later that day, I went to have a look at the site accompanied by En. Khairul. Just before the day ended, I was able to meet up with the Project Manager, Mr. Eric Tan to discuss matters with regards to my internship here.

The pics above are actually the earthing works being carried out at the site.

This is called a riser, where the electrical cables to the building go.

DAY 3. Didn't do much outside at the site today. The project here is the build a hospital to cater the health needs of the rakyat in this area.

The town of Kuala Rompin is about 22km from the Johor border town of Endau or approximately 45 minutes from Mersing. From JB, it's approximately 200km through the old and winding road. The journey from JB on that single carrige road takes about 3 to 4 hours at times. I however, manage to get here in 2 and half hours. I myself have no idea how come it took so fast to reach when my previous trip took near 3 and a half hours. It's a small town, more of a kampung area. No tall buidings or any big shopping complex in the area. It lies along the Mersing-Kuantan road. And since it's not a highway, with no street lights like on the highways, the roads tend to be rather quiet at night. Even now at 8pm, the town has become rather quiet. Unlike Kajang or JB. Broadband in this area doesn't have much coverage. Thankfully I was able to find a cyber-cafe so that I can kep up with the happennings around the world.

On the bright side, the beach is very close to where I'm staying. And the Endau-Rompin National Park is about 30 minutes drive away. Plus the jetty Pulau Tioman is perhaps around 45 minutes south from where I am. I haven't ventured to these places yet, but hopefully in the coming weeks, I will get the opportunity to do some exploring.

My training starts tomorrow morning. Am not sure what exactly I'll be doing. So will have to see what's in store for me for the next 3 months when I meet with the people there in the morning.

So until next time, I'll sign out now.

Sir AdrianSir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-65834200740120165672009-01-10T20:52:00.000-08:002009-01-12T07:27:19.024-08:00A Legitimate Way of Protest but...In light of the recent Gaza crisis which is still ranging on, certain quarters in Malaysia have come out to voice and show their support for Palestine. Before I go any further in this article, let me stress that I am not in favour of any forms of aggression by any country to solve their problems. Any differences between civilised countries should be settled through diplomatic negotiations and not through bombs and military action. As such, I do not support Israel's military campaign on Gaza, nor do I support Palestinian rocket fire into Israel. I do not and will not support any war no matter in which part of the world.

Coming back to my point. One of the ways Malaysians have come out to protest against this uncivilised problem solving method is to call for a boycott on all Israeli and American products. Take note of the word all as that will be one of my key points of argument. One notable university in central West Malaysia through a well-known club also did their part in organising a boycott. Flyers were passed around and a campaign to boycott Israeli products and products of its allies was held during the week. However, though I complement them on their efforts, what struck me most was the companies and products that they were asking us to boycott:

If you look carefully at the cut-out of the flyer above, you'd notice some familiar products. Apart from the well-known products like McD, KFC, Coke and Pepsi, do you notice other popular companies like Intel, IBM, 20th Century Fox, CNN and Nestle? Now, I'm not saying that doing a boycott is wrong. Boycotting is a legitimate way of protest. But what I'm saying is that we should be mindfull of the products or companies that we choose to boycott. What do I mean?

Take Intel as an example. This club is calling for a boycott of Intel. Do you think thats a wise idea? For one, Intel is a major investor in Malaysia. Two, the majority of laptops and computers use the Intel microchip. Three, a number of students studying in that university are under Intel scholarships. Heck, I know of one who went to sign the scholarship contract last Friday. So by calling for a boycott, they are telling us not to purchase or use anything affiliated with Intel. That would mean not using our laptops/computers (we have to change to AMD) and students giving up scholarships. Do you think Intel will say "Oh no, Malaysians are boycotting us. We have do something to avoid the boycotting, if not we'll lose business and have to close down"? In my view, all Intel will say is "Boycott us? Its up to them. Worse come to worst, we'll just bungkus our company here, take out all our investments from Malaysia, and dump it in another country. Whats the big deal?" And who are the ones that will be affected? If Intel closes down, it will be the employees that will suffer, our own people will lose their jobs.

Remember I said "all American products"? Well, one such product we are called to boycott are the golden arches, McD. Amazingly, I went to one a few days ago, and guess what, they still had quite a number of customers. Think about it. If everyone in Malaysia were to boycott McD, do you think McD will suffer big time? The true people who will suffer are those whose lifes depend on having a job at McD. Take away McD, you take away their income, food and means to support their family.

Refering to the cut-out above, if we were to really follow the boycott, we wont be using our laptops, no Levi's jeans, no Kotex and no Maggi mee. There'll also be no movies because among the boycott products are 20th Century Fox and Disney. And we can't drink Milo since we're suppose to boycott Nestle. Oh yes, those of you who use Nokia handphones, find the nearest trash can and put it in there. And one more, if you're an Arsenal supporter, better look for another club to support my friend. Because you're to boycott Arsenal since they are promoting Israel as their number one tourist destination.

One of my friends even made a joke about this boycott. As above, one of the products that they are asking to boycott is Kotex. Well, then what are women going to use? He suggested that they use diapers. Then, they can use it as a 3 in 1, to urinated, pass-motion and monthly period. Just a joke ok. No hard feelings.

I'm not saying that by not adhearing to this boycott, I'm supporting Israel. I condemn what Israel is doing. But what I'm saying is that we should choose wisely what to boycott. Although we don't depend on products like Coke and Kit-Kat for our lives, a lot of companies that are associated with the US have big local investors and a large number of local employees. If I have to choose between boycotting to show my support for the Palestinians but cause local businesses to close down, or not boycott certain products and allow locals to sustain a living, I choose the latter.

My prayers and sympathy's are with all in the Middle-east, Israeli and Palestinian. I pray that this brutal, barbaric and uncivilised actions will stop and that they will experience peace once and for all. One way that we, here in Malaysia and other countries, can help is to pray, donate if we want to and be in solidarity with them regardless of race and religion. Boycott if we want to, protest if we want to, speak out if we want to but in everything we do, be sure that it does not jeopardise our own lives here.

Peace to all.

Sir Adrian, over and out.
Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-24240150511743878352008-12-23T06:10:00.001-08:002008-12-23T07:30:24.813-08:00TECHFLOW 2008 Christmas Musical: "2000 Years Ago..."
Awesome, spectacular and legendary. Those words best describe the 2008 Christmas Musical organize by the UNITEN Christian Fellowship (TECHFLOW) with the stewardship of Adeline. This years musical, directed by the "dynamic duo" of Jeremy and Aaron, took a different perspective of that of previous years. The musical directors decided to bring the musical back in time "2ooo Years Ago" to the time of the birth of Jesus in the small town of Bethlehem.

Under the direction of the J.A. duo, the musical brought to life what can be considered the greatest story ever told. It was an opportunity to spread the true meaning of Christmas and to remind ourselves what Christmas is all about. Combining comedy with events described in the bible, the musical was indeed bringing the bible to life. With a young and energetic cast, the story that has been told for ages was being told again unlike it had ever been told before.

With a combination of songs ranging from the likes of Mama Mia and You're the One That I Want of Grease, to modern songs like Bukan Cinta Biasa, this musical kept us awake throughout the nearly 2 hour performance. The effort and sacrifice the cast members put into the musical was trully seen in their performance and the characters they played.

It began with a short introduction a Jesus' purpose of coming. This carried on to the meeting between Mary and Joseph followed by the announciation by the angel to Mary. Next came the birth of Jesus itself and the visitation of the sherpards and wise men. The performance came to a close with the killing of the holy innocents and the return of the Holy Family to Israel after the death of King Herod.

Ofcourse the cast weren't the only people involved in making this musical a success. The props team played their part in contributing to the smoothness of the show, being swift and efficient in their duties. The decorations team did a good job to give the hall the atmosphere it needed, not to forget the diamond back drop which can be said with relieve that it didn't fall. The audio visual and lights team gave the show itself the briliant attention and atmosphere that suited the night. Not forgetting the ushers whom with their smile greeted the guest who came from not just within but outside UNITEN to witness this anual event.

However, a review would not be complete without comments on improvement. For one, the event should have started on time as stated in the booklet and not around 30 minutes later. Although this may not be the fault of the organizing team, certain sense of punctuality should be hinted towards the VIP's perhaps to keep to the time of arrival. Secondly, the rotating spotlights placed infront of the stage should be controlled with better care as to not let it shine towards the audiences. This caused the audience, especially those sitting in the front rows a little eye discomfort when the lights shined directly at them.

At the end of the musical, A short performance was done by the kids from the Stepping Stones Home, a home for orphans. But orphans they are, ungifted they are not. They showed great talent in putting on their own showe which, from where I was sitting, delighted the audience.

All in all, the musical was awesome as it was performed with enthusiasm, spectacular as it brought to life the story foretold for ages, and legendary as it told of the true meaning of Christmas.

As I end this, Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

Sir Adrian, over and out.
Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-1054621587087850352008-11-24T22:13:00.000-08:002008-11-24T22:26:12.850-08:00The Paradox of Our Time

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. Well, as the title suggest, we have finished on semester for this academic year and now we're gonna start another. Ofcourse for some of us, we have already started. But for us degree people, we can still relax for another 1 week plus before going back to the hectic and tiring routine of studies, projects and tests.

For some, the coming sem will be our last in UNITEN. I've heard some seniors say that it was just like a few months ago that they started their studies and suddenly, BAM!!, "its our final year!!" Well, to all those in the final sem, how was your uni journey??

But for the rest of us, like I mentioned above, its back to uni life. Happy?? Not sure. Sad?? Not sure either. Why?? I guess its down to the non-stop studying and getting project down in time that makes us want to raise up our hands and surrender. But then again, if its not for the studying and projects, what the heck are we doing in UNITEN?

Just before I left uni for the holidays, I heard some people there complaining about the uni, that is sucks, that the lecturer's are not good enough and that the facilities are not up to standard. It seemed that they had something to complain about everything that they saw there. My question is: "If you wanna complain so much about everything, why on earth then are you studying here?" I mean, come on, if the things here are not up to your standard, get out!! Yeah sure, there are some things that are not the best in uni, but you complaining about it doesn't make it better. If you feel that things can be better, make your move and do something about it rather than complaining but not doing anything. Sometimes I don't know what to say about people like this who just complain about everything but when you ask them to do something to improve the situation, they suddenly have a loss for words.

For me, I'm satisfied with the stuff in uni. Sure there are things that I would prefer to be better, but hey, I'm there to get my degree, meet new friends and get some experience and knowledge. So I reckon I'll just keep to that.

Well, I reckon thats all for this post. Enjoy your holidays people. And see you back in our "beloved" UNITEN in December.

Note: No offence to anyoone who 'terasa' they are the people I've wrote about above.

Sir Adrian, over and out.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-91552723935224686222008-10-25T00:30:00.000-07:002008-10-25T01:20:55.647-07:00TimeHi there everyone. How are things getting on? For those still studying, its coming up to that routine time again. What do I mean? Well people, what I mean is: "Its exam time!!". Huh?? What?? So fast?? Can't be, I just started the new sem just a few months back. Well, HO HO HO, you better believe it, exams are here. For some of us, we still have the "leisure" of relaxing since it starts on Friday. But some of, it begins on Tuesday.

So fast you say? Well its funny though. Time I mean. When you want it to go faster, it sort of slows down. But when you hope that you could have more time, it just seems to speed up. Think about it. In exams when you need more time to finish the paper, 3 hours seems so short. But when you're waitting for someone or something, say the bus or train, 3 minutes could seem like forever.

So looking back at this sem, what have we achieved? Well, I can say that it was a hectic semester with the projects, test, assignments. Not to mention the other stuff some of us have to do like IET or IMeche activities. But have we really used our time well? They say 'Time waits for no one'. In a way, its true. I mean, how much time have we really made used of?. Some people say that 24 hours a day is not enough for us to carry out all our duties. But I think thats where time-management comes in. All in all, I would like to think that I gained alot from this sem. Apart from studies, it was a semester full of experiences . Actually I can't believe myself that 15 weeks of lectures just went by so fast. It was just like last month that I moved into my new 'second' home here. Well its not new as in building new, its new as in I just moved in.

However, I do feel sometimes that we need to take things slow for a change. Now a days, we seem to want everything to be fast, or rather super fast. Even that also is not fast enough for us. We tend to rush for things, want our computers to be faster, drive fast, even eat fast. But I feel we need to slow things down a bit and 'take time to smell the flowers'. Sure sometimes we have no choice but to rush, especially in times like during our test when we hear the lecturer say "You have 5 minutes left", and you go " Oh shit!!!", because you still have 2 questions to go. Now thats when you rush. But when we're on the road for instance, maybe we should pratice a bit of patience. Although we have to use time wisely, it doesnt mean that we have to rush through it.

Well, I guess we need to make time, or rather set time for not just the things that are necessary but also some time for our own. Maybe to relax, do something that we want and not because we have to. So don't always rush through everything. Take sometime to 'smell' the flowers and take in the moments. Well, I guess thats its for now.

Oh ya, to all of you taking exams, good luck in your finals. Hope that we all get the results that we deserved. To all form 5's and 6's, good luck in your SPM and STPM too. Remember, exams are not only about the A's, but also about how much we understand the subject. Like one of my lecturer's use to say, " Don't memorise the question, understand it." For those who were in the same class as me in sem 1, they'd know who this lecturer is. And to all my Hindu friends, Happy Deepavali. And though its pretty early but happy holidays to you all and have a safe journey for those who have the leisure of going overseas for holidays, like Taiwan.

Sir Adrian, over and out.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-6053328735513178892008-10-11T23:10:00.000-07:002008-10-12T00:16:41.380-07:00A World Without FriendsI came across a video on YouTube recently that I felt was really touching. It's about a reunion between a lion and his former owners. Well, I'm not going to tell the whole story. Just play the video below and find out. Trust me, it's really moving.

The video got me thinking about all the friends that I have met throughout my life and how much I have taken some of them for granted. Yeah, there were misunderstandings here and there. But I then wonder what my life would be like without them. Surely my own life won't be interesting at all. Imagine a life by yourself, going makan by your own, watching movie by yourself (not that I haven't done that before), playing CS all the time against the computer's bot and not having anyone to copy homework and assignments from (I hope none of my lecturer's read my blog). I mean our lives would be rather boring and uninteresting.

School would have been so boring if not for my classmates who made school life "interesting". And not forgeting my best friend of 13 years, who has been an honour and pleasure to have as a true friend. And uni life, well, I dont think I need to say more about it if I didnt have my friends.

To say the least, having friends makes our life worth living. Think about it. If we had no friends, we would have to do everything by ourselves. There would be no one to share jokes and laughter with. Then there are those friendships that become something more (boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives).

I can say that I am trully blessed and fortunate to have the friends I have. Although I can be a bit annoying with my sarcasm and stuff, but they somehow are able to tolerate me.

So to all my friends, thanks for being a friend to me. Hope our friendship last a lifetime.

So to all of you out there, get in-touch with your friends especially the ones you haven't been in-touched with. At first I wasn't sure what the whole big talk was all about. All I knew was that prior to this movie, Mamma Mia was a musical stage performance on broadway. From the title of the show, I knew it had something to do with the song "Mama Mia" by the pop group ABBA. So, on Friday, after sending my sister of at KL Sentral, I decided to drop by MidValley. My sister had suggested to me to watch "Eagle Eye", but I was more interested in finding out what this Mama Mia movie was all about.

Apart from Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Collin Firth, the other cast members are relatively unknown. Even the co-lead actress Amanda Seyfried, is somewhat unknown to the movie world. But I bet this movie will definately jump start her movie carrier.

The movie started of with the opening song "I Had A Dream". Amanda Seyfried plays Sophie, a 20 year old girl about to get married on a Greek island. Her mom, Meryl Streep, owns and runs a hotel on that island. However, being the "wild" girl her mother was, Sophie doesn't know who her father is. Cut the story short, this movie tells about how Sophie finds out who her real father is to walk her down the isle.

This movie would be a good one to catch if you're into musicals. Even more if you're into oldies songs especially songs by ABBA. Though it may seem, "old" but rest assured, the directors and cast have really manage to integrate the songs into modern day situations. The songs sang really go along with the plot of the movie. It's amazing how the script writers, directors and musicians were able to produce such a movie. Along with humour and dancing, in my opinion, this movie is way better than High School Musical. It doesn't have all the "Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, someone tries to ruin the love" kind of thing. The plot is straight forward but with funny and interesting situations. If you've seen "Grease", then I recommend this movie to you.

Rating wise, out of 10, I give it a 10 for music and dance, 8 for the plot, characters 9 and understandibility 9. So on average, the show rate a 9.

I really recommend this as a first date show. It'll really be a good ice-breaker for the "couple". And I reckon you'll enjoy it.

So go watch it. Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-68177932227773362392008-10-02T01:34:00.000-07:002008-10-02T01:39:56.450-07:00My Life, My Journey, My PassionHello there and welcome to my blog. This being my first acticle, I was wondering what I should write about. I wanted to write about something that is not so "jiwang", but at the same time, something meaningfull. I thought about it and and nothing seemed to come out. Little did i know that the topic which would fit was staring me right in my face. When you entered this page, the first thing you would have seen would be the heading "My Life, My Journey, My Passion". You might be wondering why, of all things, did I choose that? Well, I'm going to save you some energy figuring that out.

My Life. When we talk of life, what do we think of? Or rather what is the definition of life? Is it the beating of the heart? Is it when the brain is still functioning? Is it when the subject is breathing? Medically speaking, I would think that life is when the subject, in this case a person, still has brain function and is able to have his heart beating on its own. Take away either one, and you'll have either coma or brain dead. Personally, life is not define as the presence of a heart beat. The definition of life is, to me, humanity itself. In fact, it is the essence of humanity and all living beings. When someone is declared dead, does his life cease to exist also? Medically, yes. But in reality, that person's life lives on in the people who love him, whom he was close to, and also in the people whose lives he has made better. Many people of the past continue to live on within our lives today. In the things we used, the things we see and the things we are yet to see. Alexander G. Bell died donkey years before I was born, but his invention has made my life that much more easier. Now, I'm able to be in constant contact with others no matter how far, provided there's service. As such, his life continues to live on through the telephone. So, since I know not how long my heart will continue to beat, or when my "Big Boss" up there will call me to return, I choose to use my life as a tool so that once my physical self is gone 6 feet under or incinerated, I hope that I would have made a difference to at least someone or left a mark saying "I was here". To leave that mark is not easy, which brings me to my next point, journey.

My Journey. What is a journey? Travelling? Holidaying? Journey simply means the process of getting from one point to another. Let it be JB-KL or Setiawan-Kajang, or Sg Chua-UNITEN. When we go on a jouney, we dont just sit in the car and wait till we reach our destination. We try to do something or take along some stuff to keep us busy along the way. But the journey also includes the experiences we get along the way, the people we meet and in many cases the food we taste. And life itself is a journey. The many faces we get to know, the stuff that we get to see and do, the people that make our blood boil and ofcourse not to miss out the glorious food that we only get in certain places, say Satay Kajang. As such, going through my life here is to journey along with my family and friends and it will continue to journey even after I'm no longger seen. And because of the people I meet along my journey and the things I get to experience, it makes my life at present more worth while. So to all my friends, thank you for being a friend to me and putting up with me. You have made a difference in my life.

My Passion. To see life as a journey is not enough to make it worth while. We need something that seals it and makes it unforgettable. We need something that makes it unique, a one of, a permanent stamp. We need Passion. What is passion you may ask? We've heard of passionate dance, playing football with passion, being a passionate lover and even passionate sex. Passion, in my own words, is doing something with all our heart, with all our mind and with all our strength. That's what I suppose, in the bible, God tells his followers to do, to love him with passion. To be passionate about something is to really put our mind to in and to focus on it, to give it our best shot in the hope within our hearts, and to put in every ounce of effort and strength into it to get the best, if not, the perfect result. This could mean our studies, our badminton game, relationships or subsequently life itself. Be passionate about life. Don't take it for granted and, live as if it were you last day. Do one thing a day that you fear (the legal ones ofcourse). Be kind, faitful, supportive. That's what it means to live life with passion. To leave our mark, we need to have done something with passion. Only then can we say that "I have fought the good fight".

So there it is. Why I choose the heading. I take this opportunity to thank you for reading even though it's a bit long for my first article. But I feel that this blog will help me put my thoughts into words. I also take this opportunity to wish all my Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir batin.

Sir Adrian, over and out.Sir Adrianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11946741074655293308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1208473098837903166.post-14238551308548412462008-09-30T08:38:00.000-07:002008-09-30T08:43:22.310-07:00I'm a BloggerWell, I've finally joined the blogging world.
